Uffizi Gallery occupies the first and second floors of the famous large office ('uffizzi' in Italian) building built between 1560 and 1580 from Giorgio Vasari's design. It is one of the most famous museums in the world, well known for its extraordinary collections of ancient sculptures and paintings (from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance). The collection contains some of the most famous masterpieces of all time, including works from Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo, Raffaello, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, as well as the panorama of statues and busts from antiquity collected by the Medici family.

The Galleria D'Art Moderna or 'Modern Art Gallery' is located on the second floor of the Pitti Palace. These elegant rooms were inhabited by the Lorraine grand dukes and were decorated with Italian paintings and sculpture dating from the late 18th century to World War I including the neo-classical and romantic periods.
